I agree with you, the portion size we choose is paramount to enjoying good food and eating sensibly. In our house, we only bring to the table what we plan to eat right then. I think we Americans have the overeating mentality enforced on us from childhood.
Mom would always tell me at the dinner table “you better eat some more.”
One of the many ways of expressing her love and caring for us kids was with food.
I think we have to eat and enjoy food with our heart and soul, but choose portions like a mathematician.
Thanks Alan! I too had to clean my plate because kids were starving in Africa. They kept starving and I got fat.
